Cookies we set

  • bk_at: keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only and lasts 15 minutes, renewed automatically while you use the site.
  • bk_rt: renews your sign-in securely. It is HTTP-only, sent only to our sign-in endpoints, and lasts up to 60 days or until you sign out.
  • token: the previous sign-in cookie, used by older pages while the new site rolls out. It is HTTP-only and lasts up to 30 days. It will be removed.
  • cookieConsent: remembers that you have seen our cookie notice. It lasts 1 year.

Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, they do not need your consent under UK law (PECR). Blocking them will stop you signing in.

Preferences stored on your device

The site also uses your browser's local storage for preferences such as your chosen library view, sort order and recent searches. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us for tracking. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Third parties

We do not allow third-party cookies for advertising or tracking. Posters and covers are loaded through our own servers, so third-party image providers do not set cookies on our site.
